Renovated gym opened in "Čigota" Special Hospital

In “Čigota” Special Hospital, on 26th March 2014. at 12 a.m. a gym that has been renovated within the CBC project "Development and Promotion of Health and SPA tourism in the cross-border area of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia", was opened. CROSS SPA project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Tourist Organization of West Serbia from Užice, in partnership with the Foundation of Local Democracy Sarajevo. Project partners are “Zlatibor” Regional Development Agency from Užice and Sarajevo Regional Development Agency (SERDA).

The main goal of renovating the Specialised Hospital’s gym is the promotion of tourist infrastructure of the cross-border area. Purchased and installed equipment is adapted to the needs of beneficiaries of Čigota and Čigotica health programmes, but apart from this primary function, the equipment can be used by beneficiaries of all the other health programmes. So far the health care programmes of  “Čigota” Special Hospital has been used by 40,000 users, and Čigotica program by more than 3,000 obese children.

The opening of the renovated gym, besides the representatives of Čigota and project partners, was attended by representatives of the National Tourism Organization of Serbia and Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia - Tourism Department , Presidents of the Serbian Cluster of Medical, Wellness and Spa Tourism and Medical SPA Association of Serbia, as well as representatives of the local tourism organizations, tourism agencies, associations, travel guides and health centers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
