The main objectives of the project:
The main objective of the SMART INNO project is the development of smart networking system for monitoring and encouraging research and innovation capacities of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Adriatic region.
SMART INNO project also aims to strengthen regional cooperation in the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region and to overcome the weaknesses such as the lack of sources of funding, the lack of synergy between small and medium-sized enterprises on one hand and holders of a research and innovative function, policy makers and investors on the other hand through connecting the innovation supply and demand, providing educational services and finding partners, as well as through increased opportunities for access to alternative sources of financing.
SMART INNO project has 18 partners from 8 countries of the Adriatic region (Italy, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia)

• Strengthening cooperation among stakeholders and policy makers in order to increase
Research & Development innovative capacities
• Creation of mechanisms aimed at SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) that will support their research and development innovative capacity in order to improve their competitiveness
• Establishment of a trans-regional network in the Adriatic region among research and innovation (R & I) institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises, which will, through establishment of clusters, increase collaboration and information flow and investments in the sector
• Establishment of a new ecosystem to support SMEs and start-up companies, to find sources of financing and access to sources of investment through a financial market
• Increase of employment opportunities for scientists in the regions of their origin, which will reduce brain drain
• Provision of alternative means of innovative activities, with the establishment of the Adriatic Business Angels Network (Adriatic BAN)
• Increase of technology transfers from public institutions for research and technology development and innovation towards the SME sector, and thus a significant increase of use of research results, which will contribute to the increase of added value of the region
• Capacity increase of the regional innovation system for creating, planning and monitoring of activities and program of research and development of technology and innovations
