To understand each other!

With the aim to develop and improve Serbian tourism, actors dedicated to the improvement of tourism services in rural households, prepared dictionary for rural households, simple yet useful tool for successful and efficient communication between hosts who provide tourism services and foreign guests who spend their vacation in beautiful countryside of Serbia.

Dictionary for rural households has been created by initiative of PanaComp Wonderland Travel with the support of PSD. It contains a hundred basic words and phrases in Serbian and English, with pronunciation, which enable sharing various cultural and social principles and facilitate learning of Serbian and English.  

This dictionary is a unique contribution to the competitiveness of Serbian tourism market, thus stimulating economic growth, employment rate and quality of life of the residents. The Dictionary for Rural Households gives the opportunity of successful communication, since it is precious tool which helps foreign guests to experience pastoral traditions of local population, which  evoke the sense of particular times and reflect old flavours and tastes of Serbia, at the same time encouraging rural hosts to express their unbeatable hospitality and innate cordiality, richness of preserved traditions and colourful culture, fulfilling their own needs to take good care about guests by fulfilment of expectations and wishes of their guests.

Electronic version of dictionary can be downloaded from PSD’s website (direct link) and it is available to all that are interested in using it as a gift (on CD or USB stick) for friends or business partners, as a unique souvenir from Serbia. Print form can be sent to all tourism agencies, tourism organizations, hotels, associations etc. who are willing to print the dictionary for their needs, either as a tool for improvement of services in tourism, or as a souvenir for foreign guests.

On 9th of October 2012, in Tourism organisation of Serbia, media conference was held to promote dictionary. Representatives of national media participated at the conference, and audience was addressed by Ivanka Tasic (on behalf of travel agency PanaComp Wonderland), Sophie Birot (guest from France who has visited Western Serbia rural households for several times), and, also, Milutin Tadic (household Lazarevi konac) and Mila Lecic (household Vila Ravijojla), who demonstrated practical usage of dictionary, to the delight of audience. Representatives of association Youth for tourism (more at: www.mladizaturizam.rs), also, showed their willingness to, through the wide network of its members, distribute and affirm Dictionary.
